Performer

Jacob Boehme trained in dance at NAISDA, Australia’s leading institute for Indigenous Performing Arts.
He has performed traditional Yirrikala dance for Bangarra’s 1998 Festival of Dreaming. Jacob has been a part of many cultural exchanges teaching ballet and jazz to kids in traditional Aboriginal communities and teaching traditional Aboriginal dance to Torres Strait Island communities. He has also been a teacher and choreographer of Latin American dance for the ABC’s ‘Something in the Air’ and also appeared on the show as a Latin American dancer. He has performed as an actor for Steven Davison’s ‘Love in a Cubicle’ for the Midsumma,
Feast and Pride Festivals in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth and also as the character of Buzz in Terence McNally’s ‘Love, Valour, Compassion’ for Midsumma 2003. In 2006 Jacob did the Post Graduate Degree in Puppetry at Victorian College of the Arts and went on to do his Masters in Puppetry 2007.
Jacob’s show Idja was received with acclaim and will go on to perform at the Dreaming Festival in Queensland. Jacob is currently working with Polyglot in Check Out! as one of the cast in the theatre version of this popular show. He is part of an panel of young Indigenous professionals in the ASSITEJ congress in Adleaide in 2008 and is creating his own shadow puppetry performance.
